Public Health Agency of Canada

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is the federal government agency that works to prevent disease and injuries, promote good physical and mental health, and provide information to support informed health-related decision making. It values scientific excellence and provides national leadership in response to public health threats.

PHAC is responsible for national public health surveillance, including the Canadian Paediatric Surveillance Program, through its Centre for Surveillance and Applied Research within the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Branch.
